Lewis has attended Active Day Care for around a couple of years. Since starting we have noticed Lewis has become more out-going and confident.
He enjoys going and loves all the staff and the friends he has made there. He enjoys all the activities, such as swimming, cooking and trips out. I am very pleased Lewis has settled in and a big thank you to Tom, Becky and all the staff for their hard work and commitment for making it a safe and happy environment for everybody.
After leaving school my son Joe who has a learning disability suffered with severe anxiety and mental health which led to breakdowns. We looked at different options and places but Joe could not settle and his mental health became worse . We then found Active day care and Joe finally became settled he has been attending for 3 years. He loves all the staff who have been very supportive and helped him overcome a lot of his anxieties.
When my daughter left school I had one of the most important decisions to make for her. After a lot of thought I decided on Active Day Care, I'm so glad and pleased I decided to go for this daycare as Amy loves to go and I know she is happy there. The staff are lovely, I have met quite a few of them over time, as long as my daughter is happy then so am I.
Thank you Active Day Care.

All i can say this was third time lucky for us finding you guys, and hopefully chelsea will be a service user for a long long time
i would like to add that without the caring support of all the staff who totally get how it is for an adult (child) with learning disabilities we would totally not manage a home life xx
I have nothing but praise for Active Day Care Abby has come on so much since she joined, she has more confidence and her social skills are improving. She loves the different activities on offer, I couldn't comment on the meals she cooks only that they smell delicious as Abby has them for her tea. We went to the open day at Beverley and thoroughly enjoyed the day and we appreciate the effort that was put into the day. So thank you from Abby and her Mam and Dad x
What a wonderful team at Active! From day one in November 2016 Sophie was part of a large family! She was included in what she could take part in due to her disability. In the last year we have had on going support from all at Active, due to circumstances at home Active are always there to help in which ever way they can, this is much appreciated by Mum.
Sophie enjoys the days she attends, the social interaction, trips out, cooking, swimming, woodwork etc. She is never bored and always comes home happy. The staff are funny, helpful and caring and Sophie looks forward to attending.
Thanks very much Becky, Tom, Adam, Stuart and the rest of the team x
I just want to say a big thank you to Becky, Tom and all the staff at active for making Vivien welcome and having a reason to get up on a morning. Viv has been through a difficult time the last few months and John and i are trying to get her into a good place and be happy, and thanks to all the staff at active you have made her so happy in just one day. You are all amazing and I can’t thank you enough for the wonderful job you are doing with Aaron and now Viv and the support you are giving us . June Sugden
Just want to say a big thank you to Becky, Tom and all the lovely staff at active day care for being so welcoming and making my son so happy. Aaron loves coming to active on a Thursday and I can't wait for him to come more in July. I was really worried about Aaron leaving Kingsmill after been there for 17years but seeing how excited he is on a Thursday morning and how happy he is when he comes home I know that he will be really happy when he comes in July. When he is at home he loves watching the videos of everyone over and over again. Thank you all for doing such a good job making all the members have such good fun I am so glad I found active for Aaron I know he is the best hands. Other than mine lol
My sister-in-law Abby has been attending Active day care for over a year now. Abby absolutely loves attending active day care and her confidence has grown so much and she is now more outgoing and seems a lot happier. As a learning disability nurse myself it is amazing to see such an fantastic service for young adults with learning disabilities. All the staff are friendly and appear to love their jobs!

My son has a mild learning difficulty and was feeling very low and depressed when I first contatcted Active Day Care, he attended 2 days a week and although a litle apprehensive at first he immediately felt part of the group, Active Daycare is a fantastic place for young people, my son attended for 5 months and loved it. The staff are very helpful, they are approachable, professional and they have created a unique special place. They have given my son a confidence that he feels he can go on his next journey and has started a volunteering placement and hopefully go onto paid work. I cannot thank you guys enough. Well done Rebecca and Tom and all the staff, on creating a great place! :-)
I currently work at Active Day Care Hull, and I can honestly say its the best decision I have made work wise in my career, the staff and management are amazing, they are approachable, professional and the most important point is that they have the members best interests and needs at heart, the entire attitude of the whole organisation is totally focused on the individual needs of the member's, which is obviously a vital part of any day care provider.
Every day is fun filled, daily activities are organised according to the individual members decisions, the activities are obviously influenced by management and staff to ensure they are suitable and fulfilling for all members, these activities are sports oriented and also educational, you only have to have a look at the photos and videos on the website and facebook page to see how good the environment and atmosphere is here!
So if you have a loved one or know anyone who would benefit from the services provided here, then this is place to be! :)
I work at Active Day Care and I think it's an amazing place. Loads of activities to do for the young adults, both indoors and out. We take them out on trips to places like Lincoln Castle, Doncaster Dome, swimming, the National Railway Museum, York Air Museum, Leeds Royal Armories, Scarborough, Whitby, Bridlington, Sporting events and regular bowling, foot golf, golf driving range and lots of local attractions. The Staff are friendly, caring and well trained with lots of experience of working with Adults with additional needs. Every Day is different. The days and weeks seem to fly by.
After carrying out a week placement at active day care, I became so attached and after just a week I felt part of the family. I loved it that much I now volunteer there whenever I can! Just being around all the young adults there is so rewarding and seeing them come out of there shells and grow as a person is one of the best experiences I could ever imagine! The staff there always provide person centred care and ensure the young adults are happy and busy doing something. There's never a moment that's dull at active day care! Couldn't Praise this place enough even if I tried! Truly amazing, just like everybody in it.
so far I have really enjoyed coming here everyone is soo welcoming and I only been twice and did things that normally drive my nuts in cinema and bowling but this time, they didn't it really shows if you go with the right people it is a completely different experience I want to say a big WELLDONE to all the staff and volunteer's
Active Day Care is such a lovely, warm and welcoming centre. I recently did my college placement here and haven't been able to stay away since. The atmosphere of the adults is amazing, they always have smiles on there faces. There is never one person left out as they are all so inclusive, not just with the other members but also new faces that may come to active too. The activities that are put in place are arranged around the young adults preferences and are available for all abilities. There is just a few of many pointers which makes active day care stand out from the rest. I love volunteering here, it brightens up my whole week!
An amazing place to work for. Everyday there is activities everybody can do! It is a pleasure to be a part of such a wonderful place with amazing people!
When my brother Mathew went to college he wasn't himself and uncomfortable but since the first day at Active Day Care he started to be his true self and more and we love that so much. He is so eager to go to Active Day Care everyday. I helped out at active and I can't name a more wonderful and caring as well as fun group, both staff and Adults.
I went on the Ellie Rose bus for my birthday. I love Ellie Rose buses .The best thing is I get to go on great trips with my best mate Matty. It's the best place I have been in
My son started Active Day Care 5 months ago after leaving college, and hes never looked back! I was worried about the transistion but I needn't have, hes felt at home here since day 1! The young adults that already attended made him feel so welcome and included and hes made some great friends, and the staff are like family. I was so worried about what Liam would do once he left college as there wasn't much out there for young adults, I can only say Active Day Care is perfect for him! There's such a wide range of activities that cater to everyones needs and preferences, the base is amazing with different things to do in every room, and always lots on offer to keep everyone occupied and stimulated. Liam loves going and I couldnt ask for more!
since I joined I felt so happy and with my mates and doing great actives and and at least tom and becky looking after me and now am looking to the future.
I have been working as a volunteer for the last few months. It has been more than I expected, Rebecca and Tommy have created a place that is not only fun but an absolute pleasure to be involved in. It makes me smile every time I go there, and I have met some great young people. Not only have they created a great place with many rooms, all with different activities in, we take them out every day to do something. I feel very lucky to be a part of this very unique special place, here's to it growing and growing. To see all the happy smiling faces of the young adults makes it all worth while. The staff have a lot of support from family and friends, not forgetting the young adults family's, and everyone who has helped to get this venture started. Keep up the good work !
My sister Rebecca and Tom came up with this idea because there was very little in Hull and the surrounding areas to facilitate activities for adults with learning disabilities. The commitment and dedication by all involved is evident when you see the centre; rooms have been planned with the adults in mind and drawings on the wall to depict sporting heroes......all at the bequest of the young adults.
I have had the opportunity of helping on the occasional days and it is so heart warming to see everyone enjoying themselves and engaging in activities that may have been restricted to them otherwise.
What is also evident is the great atmosphere and friendliness of staff and young adults and how everyone is made to feel welcome.
My son has been going here for a couple of months .he loves it plenty to do and really likes it . I would just like to thank staff for been friendly and professional and approachable but most of all caring they do different things and are always out bit like a family so carry on you are doing a great job and if anyone is looking for somewhere give this a go
