Due to Active Day Care Hull’s success and demand we have opened a new centre in Woodmansey, near Beverley. We have exciting plans for this new day care centre. It is a larger premises which will have lots of new educational activities. We are still looking at opening another day care centre in the Hull, which will also include the above new activities.
Our main focus is to promote independent living skills and education. Our new much larger premises allows us to provide a whole new spectrum of day care provision such as; woodworking, cookery in the “Potter’s Kitchen” (which will incorporate. Healthy eating, nutrition and cooking skills), gardening at both our centres and out in the community at Gillshill Primary School. We will be promoting fitness and health in the “D’Arcy’s Fitness Suite”, We have a computer room (to include basic IT skills) and a large projector room providing the ability to watch educational videos. Active also has an amazing sensory room which is in use every day.
The above is additional to Active Day Care Hull’s usual services, we will not be replacing any of our fun filled activities which you are all aware of Such as trips out to Lincoln Castle, Leeds Royal Armouries, York Air Museum, pub meals and our Christmas trip to York.
At Active Day Care Hull we support their transition and encourage all the services that support young people and their families – from health and social care through to education and possibly employment. A poor transition between child and adult services can have a profound and long-lasting negative impact on a person’s life, as well as their long-term independence.
Since opening on the 9th February 2015, Active Day Care Hull has gone from strength to strength. This is mainly due to the enthusiasm, motivation and dedication of everyone involved and especially the contribution and support from parents and carers and outside agencies. Our members are also very inclusive with new members and make them feel welcome and builds confidence.
We have visited a variety of places and enjoyed socializing with other adults with additional needs. Our photos tell a story so make sure you take a look at our gallery.
If you have a loved one with additional needs then come along and have a look around and meet our young adults, or come for a ‘taster day’. Taster days are FREE and gives you the opportunity to join in our daily activities such as foot golf, bowling, golf driving range, weekly swim at Bridlington, 5 aside football, boccia (Sporstability 2016 champions), sporting events and much more. We can also advise you on what to do next to help with your loved one’s choice of day care. Active Day Care Hull also visits other towns, cities and attractions on a regular basis.
Active Day Care Hull has 3 nine seat minibuses We are also looking at purchasing a wheelchair friendly minibus if we can generate enough interest!
It is our aim to stimulate independence and promote physical ability and confidence building with the continuation of existing interests and activities. Choice, individuality and self-respect are promoted and encouraged so our adults are treated with respect and sensitivity of their individual needs and abilities, and they treat their peers with the same values.
To ensure that Active Day Care Hull is presented flexibly and attentively whilst respecting each young adults’ right to independence, fulfillment and the right to make informed choices.
Active Day Care Hull will manage the service efficiently and effectively, making the best use of resources and to maximize best value for our members.
